Depression Types

& How They Affect Your Life

Depression has been described as a mental state where the person feel  an almost continuous feeling of inadequacy, and worthlessness.  Here are the various types of depression:

characterized by sudden and extreme changes in one's mood wherein one minute he or she is in an elevated state of euphoria while the next minute (day or week) he or she is feeling like they're  in a personal hell.

- characterized by a prolonged sadness and a feeling of emptiness by a new mother wherein physical stress during child birth, an uncertain sense of responsibility towards the new born baby can be just some of the possible factors why some new mother go through this.

- is where the person is almost in a constant state of anxiety and worry. It can be about what is going to happen in the future, what wil they do, what will other people do...what are politians doing, what  are the health care professionals doing, (or whichever professionals are involved in the topic that they are worried about), even the weather.

Dysthimia - characterized by a slight similarity with depression, although this time, it's been proven to be a lot less severe, but of course with any case, should be treated immediately.

Cyclothemia - characterized by a slight similarity with Manic or Bipolar depression wherein the individual suffering from this mental illness may occasionally suffer from severe changes in one's moods.

Clinical Depression - is how doctors usually refer to 'depression'. It has also been called Major depression.

Seasonal Affective Disorder - characterized by falling in a rut only during specific seasons (i.e. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall) studies however, prove that more people  actually fall in to a rut more during the Winter and Fall seasons and lastly, Mood swings, wherein a person's mood may shift from happy to sad to angry in just a short time.

Just some of the stuff that happenes when a person is depressed:

disinterest in activities/hobbies hopelessness lack of interest in sex loss of appetite weight loss or gain
see/hear imaginary things negative world view difficulty concentrating moments of elation then fatigue oversleeping
feelings of suicide obsession with death Depression sad posture insomnia
mood shifts frightened constant dissatisfaction with everything feeling bad about everything feeing unimportant
reckless behaviour decrease of energy Fatigue (can be constant) anxiety constant need for praise
excessive guilt loss of memory excessive crying chronic pains and physical problems emotionless / feeling empty

As you can see, if a person is depressed they're going to have a combination of these symptoms, and what's more is that these are self-perpetuating, i.e. the more a person has these symptoms, the more they're going to feel bad, and the more that happens, the more they'll continue having them.

And this degrades the quality of that person's life.  And not only the depressed person but also anyone who is emotionally connected to them. As for work relationships and work itself, that'll soon go down too.  You see they are all connected.

Life is too precious to live it with this illness. Please seek help at once if you have it and get your life back.
