10 Ways To Beat The Blues

Simple Things You Can Do Today

Life can be quite unpredictable, from our point of view. So when trouble comes you can feel like a tiny boat being tossed around on a gigantic merciless ocean. But Life doesn’t have to be that hard all the time. You can beat the blues. Even if you sometimes feel like you can’t. There are many methods to do that but we’ll start with some really simple things you can do right away to feel better.

Everyone gets the blues. It’s like a virus. If this persists for 6 months or more then you could be depressed. So does one go about battling this virus?

We will start with some really simple things that you probably already know but could have forgotten. We all get so caught up in what's happening in our day to day lives that these little things can get overlooked.

But it is these simple little things that can make the difference between having an O.K. day or just feeling like ****.

So here goes:

1 – Watch what you eat…or don’t eat: Proper nutrition is a must. Gorging on snacks that are deep fried or high in fat content is not going to give you the ‘feel good chemicals’ your body really needs. Switch to healthier snacks.

2 – Drink water: this might seems like an obvious one, but if you drink a lot of Diet colas or other carbonated drinks you are going to have problems like bloating and other things that is going to make you feel low on energy. Substitute it with water. Your body needs hydration.

3 – Eat Fruit: This could be a good snack food. It gives you energy faster, and as you already know it’s healthier. So you could substitute the potato chips for fruit snacks.

4 -  Eat Breakfast:Many people in college and office goers tend to skip breakfast. Big Mistake. This will slow down your entire day, and you’ll feel sluggish and low until you get some food into your body at lunch time. You don't try to drive your car without fuel do you? Yet many people try to work without breakfast or sometimes skipping lunch too. To the body this doesn't make sense.

It is like the man who was shivering in winter. So he shouted at the fireplace "Give me some heat and then I'll put in the wood."

So eat breakfast and give your body the fuel it needs.

5 –Keep a regular time to go to sleep:While everyone needs to party once in a while,  you’re body won’t be able to take too much of it. After too many parties your work will slip. Your performance in  work and other activities will really suffer. And if you’re sleep deprived then you’ll be more prone to mood swings and irritability.

6 – Keep your body healthy : Take care of your body and it will take care of you.  Remember that the way you feel and what you put into your body is intimately connected.

And No I don’t mean this in the wrong way. This might sound funny…but it’s true. If you misuse the body you got for free…you’ll end up spending a thousands of dollars trying to get it fixed later. Things like excessive drinking will not only ruin your kidneys in the long term it’ll give you a bad hangover the next day.  It plays havoc with the chemicals naturally produced in your body. And then you wonder why you feel low.

7 – Write a basic schedule of things to do the next day: This frees up your mind and lessens anxiety that you might forget something.

8 – Lighten Up: Don’t take everything so seriously. If you lose your best friend, your boyfriend / girlfriend cheated on you, you got into a fight, you’re feeling so blue, you got a bad report, you didn't get the promotion; remember it not the end of the world.

If you’re not perfect today, no ones going to come beat you up 50 years later just because you weren’t perfect.

9 - Talk to someone who has more insight about Life, about the really big problems you have. Your peer group might not be so helpful if they’re going through the same stuff. You need a fresh perspective.

10 – What do you want later? Sometimes you can get too caught up in the moment; someone fighting with you; someone says stuff to you or about you. One way to put it all into perspective is to take along term view of your life. All problems go away after a time.

These were just 10 simple things you can do today. One size does not fit all. Some things will work well for you. Some will gel. Some won't. Try a few at a time.

There are ofcourse some really hard core ways to beat the blues or get out of depression, but those require some real desire to get out of your emotional pain and become happy. When you're ready to take your life to the next level then get the Ebook "Getting Happy Vol 1"
