Not the typical About-Us Stuff. Get Ready...

S.F. Velanne is The Happiness Maverick. She suffered from depression for over 7 years and then finally cured herself of depression without medication.

Now she imparts her knowledge and experiences through this site in the form of Free Articles and Ebooks Her definitive work is her new Ebook "Getting Happy Vol 1".

"Getting Happy Vol 2" is in the works as we speak. It builds on and contains even more secrets and power than Vol 1. But even with all the Secrets that are revealed in "Getting Happy Vol 2" the "Getting Happy Vol 1" Ebook is still required reading if you want to truly understand what's going on in Vol 2.

And now for a rather long dialogue from Sharon., containing an effective technique to break free from some of your mental chains.

Who The Heck Am I?

Who do I think I am?

Sometimes I 'am' a Designer, sometimes an Artist, a Musician, a Photographer...and many more professions...So now who do you think I am? Now what did you notice in the previous line? There were many Titles such as - Designer, Artist, Musician, Photographer. But those are just discriptions of what I might be interested in doing. As such they actually aren't what I Am.

How many Titles do you have? Here are just a few of the many titles that everyone has - I'm a Doctor, I'm an Engineer, I'm a Mechanic, I'm a Professor, I'm Fat, I'm Thin, I'm Stupid, I'm such an Idiot, I'm too Short, I'm too Tall, I'm not good enough....add your own list to this. Now who do you think you are?

If we are only one or two thngs, then how can we identify with so many  of these Titles?  Most of them are things that other people have told us, they are not the Truth of who we are. And it can become a real problem when we start to identify ourselves as only those things thus limiting our options to anything else we can do or be. Here is something you can do real quick. Remove those titles right now. Right Now. You don't need them anymore.

In fact, one of the reasons of depression is our identification with these titles and our unquestioning acceptance of them.

O.K. if you don't like Titles, then why have you used them in other places? (Like calling yourself a Designer/Inner-World Adventurer/ The Happiness Maverick)

That's only because we are all so used to identifying a person with what they do that it becomes difficult to accept someone without a Title. It helps us categorize that person. I mean that it saves our brain a lot of time to just put a person into a category.  When you have a medical problem you won't  think of going to a mechanic would you? And just as you would go to a doctor if you had a medical problem, you wouldn't go to that person again if your car was giving trouble would you? Your brain would not come up with the answer to your car problem with "Doctor", it would say "Mechanic" or "Garage" or "Name-of-your-regular-car-mechanic". (Actually the Name of the person would come first. )

Why am I called The Happiness Maverick?

Because when I broke free from depression, in a short while  I became a happy person. And many people could not understand how when I was at that time still not physically well, still struggling financially, still overweight, still a social phobic, how could I still be happy? people could not understand that. It didn't make sense to them.

You see most people consider that they should be unhappy if they don't have the stuff they want. Wether it be good health, money, fitness, relationships, whatever. And then if they get that then they'll be happy. But it works the other way round. You must Get Happy first and then the other stuff will come to you.

Why This Site?

Have you ever suffered from depression?  Having had it for seven years was like living in my own private hell. And I didn't have the option of medications or therapy. Going for those would have been  social sucide...with the rest of my family and also most of my so called social life. But somewhere in my bottomless pit of depression I had the gut feeling that it could be beaten. And that feeling  turned out to be right.

What happened next was the formation of a Ten-Step Plan to not only beat depression but also experience happiness. (the Getting-Happy e-book) And after I found it, I just had the strongest feeling to tell people about this. Especially after finding out that among Americans alone 18.8 Million people will be depressed this year...and that every single person in the world will experience depression in their lifetime. The Plan I'd formulated containing the information of beating depression could not be kept to myself.  And so this site is here to  make the Getting-Happy e-book available to those chosen few who will take the time to explorer what I've found.

Who decides who is Chosen?
You do. If you decide that you're going to do this then you are. It's that simple.

And now I think that the What and the Why have been answered together.

Do I Know It All?

No I Don't.

And if anyone tells you they do then they're lying.
Because No one knows it all.

I do certainly strive to learn more and more everyday
so that I can grow and help others to grow too into
being more than they think they can be.
